Restorative care, implants and extractions

Restorative care, implants and extractions

We offer a wide range of specialty services for restorative oral health.

Restorative oral health plays a vital role in preserving teeth, maintaining proper oral function, and improving the aesthetics of a patient’s smile. A comprehensive oral health evaluation by our dentist helps determine the most appropriate restorative treatments based on the individual’s specific dental needs and goals. Regular dental check-ups are essential to detect dental issues early on and to prevent further damage to teeth, which may reduce the need for extensive restorative treatments in the future.

Bridges

When a tooth cannot be saved or a patient has a missing tooth, a bridge is a treatment option to bridge the gap between the two healthy teeth when one or more teeth are missing. A bridge is permanently cemented and the neighboring teeth are crowned and serve as the anchors of the artificial/false tooth known as a pontic. The length of the success of the bridge is determined by the strength and health of these anchors.

Crowns

Our goal is for our patients to always keep their natural teeth. A tooth that has been fractured, needs support to prevent further fracture, or had prior treatment such as root canal or dental implant may need a crown for treatment. When deciding what type of crown, we consider the strength of materials needed, where the tooth is located, and the overall health condition of the patient. Each crown is custom made to fit over the entire visible portion of the tooth, restoring both its strength and overall appearance.

Extractions and Bone Preservation

The doctors understand that having a tooth extracted can sound scary. Every endeavor is considered to try to save a natural tooth. If a tooth is not able to be saved, however, every option will be reviewed to make this treatment as comfortable as possible. Bone preservation may be discussed as part of the treatment plan. Once the tooth is removed, the bone that was around that tooth
changes shape while healing. In some cases, placing bone in the socket is a solid option for maintaining the bone in the area of the extraction. If replacing the tooth is part of the treatment goal, implants, bridges and partial dentures are also discussed. In short, the plan that best fits your needs and your comfort level will be determined.

Implants

When saving a tooth is not possible, or if you are missing a tooth or teeth, implant restorations are an option. An implant is surgically placed in the jawbone and serves as the root of a missing tooth. Time is needed for healing and for implant integration into the bone before an implant crown tooth can be placed.

Nitrous Oxide

Patient comfort is our top priority. Dental procedures are not always easy. We will work together to come up with a treatment plan that provides care at the comfort level needed. Nitrous oxide is available for patients who would benefit from feeling more relaxed during the procedure. It is a fast-acting sedative making recovery time approximately 4-5 minutes, which means a patient can drive to and from an appointment.

Restorations

Restorations repair missing parts of a tooth’s structure. If a portion of the tooth has decay, it is removed first; then, the tooth is filled with a natural tooth-colored composite restorative material that is both durable and esthetically pleasing. The filling not only restores your tooth structure and function but also matches your existing tooth color.

Root Canals

Our mission is to treat the tooth in the most conservative way possible, which would be treating cavities in a timely manner. However, if the cavity has reached the nerve of the tooth or the nerve of the tooth is affected, root canal therapy would likely be the next course of treatment to restore the health of the tooth. During this procedure, the pulp inside the tooth is removed, the area is cleaned, disinfected, and each canal filled with gutta percha, a natural rubbery material. Finally, a filling is placed to seal the tooth and to prevent any bacteria from entering.

“My son was very nervous about getting fillings. The doctor and staff were patient and kind, letting him know what was happening, waiting for him to be ready, listening to his concerns, and counting down the time each step would take. He was very appreciative of the extra steps they took to make him more comfortable with the procedure.”
